Part of Seidel’s ongoing series of video paintings, the experimental music video melts the granular textures of ink drawings and analogue artefacts of VHS tape glitches into a retro-futuristic hybrid.

Slithering brush gestures seem to become unhinged and violate the laws of nature or, at other moments, wash into blurred perspectives. The delicate, abraded surfaces of the strokes oscillate between appearing like fine-pored sculptures and unstable veneers. Guided by the compositional structure of the song »People Part I«, these graphic traces of the human and their displacement activities evoke simultaneously both relief and suffocation.
Abogar’s (Ana Bogner + Arpen) song itself poses poetic realities as an ambiguous state of human consciousness. Field recordings, modular synthesizers and a prepared harpsichord were sonically sculpted into a fluctuating composition, accompanied briefly by spoken-word fragments.
