chiral
The artwork is a collection of cinematic études, which develop various conceptual approaches in terms of paper materiality: like a flat sheet for drawing; like a stack or layer, as in a book; like a shaped paper, as in an architectural model.

The title chiral refers to a scientific term from the field of Stereochemistry, describing a molecular structure that is not identical to its mirror image. In combination with projected imagery, the two-dimensional image is expanded into space. The studies are projected onto an abstract sculpture (510 × 260 × 370 cm) and a flat screen (250 × 200 cm), each made from handmade Taiwanese paper, and across these configurations of the same material, their chiralities expand differently.
The projected amalgam of volumetric lights sets ideas from Chinese calligraphy into motion and fuses them with influences from European Art Informel, as well as impasto painting, resulting in an abstract-organic sculpture. The soundtrack by Austrian composer Richard Eigner emphasizes the material transformations with their musical counterparts. With the premiere in MOCA Taipei, the first iteration of a longer-term project was presented and subsequently moved to exhibitions in Italy, America, Austria and Germany.
